What is a GeoTrail™?
  • Each one is a great walk in its own right but with added interest and fun.
  • They combine the sport of Geocaching with a walk in the countryside.
  • Every one contains 10 virtual caches you have to locate.
  • A virtual cache is an existing landmark such as a bench, fingerpost or house
  • We give you the co-ordinates of each cache which is a unique location.
  • You have to answer a question at each virtual cache as proof you were there.
  • Use your GPS or traditional navigation skills to locate each cache.
  • A virtual cache can also be treated as a waypoint.
  • Enter the waypoints into a route in the correct order to follow our GeoTrail™.
Why not give one a try and maybe you could win a copy of the Navigation Workshop DVD (RRP £19.95) or our new GPS book "Getting to Grips with GPS" (£14.99)

Listed below you will find our trails, click on anyone and it will appear as a printable PDF document with full Trail details. When you have collected the clues to any published GeoTrail™, e-mail them to us at peter@geotrailing.com along with your completed questionnaire. We promise to reply and confirm that you have successfully completed our trail, and enter your name into the win "beer for a year" competition.

We hope you enjoy our Trails, just click on any listed Trail and it will take you directly to the walk in question. You can then decide if you wish to accept the challenge laid down by the compiler.

When walking a Trail think of each set of co-ordinates as a waypoint in a route then just follow the trail from one waypoint to the next answering the questions as you go. If you wish to follow the trail using traditional navigation, then our advice is to:

  • Make sure you have the correct map for the area
  • Locate each position on the map in advance
  • Be aware of your position on the ground and follow the map as you proceed

To follow a Trail using a Map and GPS then simply enter the co-ordinates into your GPS as a waypoint, Save, check with your map and use the GOTO feature to navigate directly to your destination.
